Landmark Announces Women's Soccer Awards

Landmark Announces Women's Soccer Awards

TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference has announced the annual awards and Scranton snagged three of the awards. The Royals Jamie Hreniuk was voted Co-Offensive Player of the Year with Susquehanna's Emily Sullivan. Scranton's Carolyn Warner was named the Defensive Player of the Year and Moravian's Paige Weiss was voted the Rookie of the Year. Scranton head coach Colleen Pivirotto and Moravian Coach Jeff Ykoruk were named Co-Coach of the Year.

Sullivan started in all 18 games this season. The sophomore led the team in goals with seven and points with 16. Sullivan totaled two assists and 39 shots – 19 of which were on goal – to go along with five game-winning goals on the year.

Hreniuk had a breakout season after moving to forward early in the year. She scored 11 regular season goals, including four game-winners, then provided the match-winner in the Landmark Conference semifinals, as well. The offensive outburst came on the heels of a freshman campaign in which she played in the midfield and did not record a single point.

Warner became a force on both ends of the field for Scranton, anchoring a defense that posted 12 regular season shutouts and held opponents to just 0.56 goals per game. She also contributed a career-high seven goals, tied for second-most on the team, becoming one of the conference's most dangerous weapons on set pieces.

Weiss played in all 18 matches in her debut season and netted three goals including one game-winning goal off of corner kicks, which led all freshmen in scoring this season.

Since taking over the Greyhounds in 2014, Moravian head coach Jeff Ykoruk and his staff were voted Coaching Staff of the Year. A year ago the Greyhounds finished fourth in the Landmark with a 2-3-2 record, but added three conference wins this season and wrapped up with a 5-2 Landmark record.

Pivirotto led the Royals to a 15-1-1 mark in the regular season, including a 7-0-0 record in conference play, despite losing three-time all-region honoree Christina Akalski to injury in the third game of the season. Pivirotto guided the Royals to the Landmark Conference title game for the seventh straight season and eighth time in the conference's 10-year history.

Sullivan, Hreniuk were two of the 13 players selected to the Landmark All-Conference First Team. Joining Sullivan and Hreniuk at forward is Catholic senior Lindsay Aleman and Moravian sophomore Gabby Stelzmiller. Aleman is a two-time First Team honoree and finished the season with 17 goals, eight of which came in conference play. Stelzmiller is making her first appearance on the First Team. She finished with season with 11 goals and three assists.

Catholic senior midfielder Alyssa Fiore is making her third appearance as an All-Conference selection, while teammate sophomore Taylor Pisk, who was a Second Team selection in 2015 earned First Team honors. Pisk racked up seven goals and four assists for the Cardinals while Fiore had one goal and one assist. Joining the duo is Elizabethtown senior Morgan Chambers and Scranton sophomore Brittany Uricchio were recognized as All-Conference First Team selections for the first time.

Joining Warner on the First Team for defenders is teammate Erin Casey. Like Warner, Casey helped anchor a defense that posted 12 regular season shutouts and held opponents to just 0.56 goals per game. She is a four-time all-conference selection (second team in 2012, first team in 2013, 2014, 2016). Susquehanna junior Marissa Heddings has earned All-Conference First Team honors for the second time, while Moravian junior Lauren Bertucci, a Second Team selection a year ago, has earned First Team honors for the first time as a defender for the Greyhounds.
