  • NSCAA Announces Scholar All-Region Awards

    Catholic, Moravian and Scranton players were represented with 11 players from the Landmark Conference recognized by the NSCAA as Scholar All-Region selections.

    The Landmark Conference has chosen six athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective fall sports. The University of Scranton’s Emily Farrell has been named the Women’s Soccer Senior Scholar Athlete.

    Senior defender Eileen Black of the Moravian College women's soccer team was named the ECAC South Division III Defensive Player of the Year along with being named to the All-Star Team.

    Moravian's Eileen Black, Goucher's Sherlanda Buskey and Drew's Emma Campbell all received Second Team honors. Goucher's Lindsey Puopolo is a Third Team selection.

    The Landmark Conference has announced the selection of 32 student-athletes to the 2012 Fall Landmark All-Academic Team. The top two male and two female student-athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions who met the award requirements have been honored.
  • NSCAA Recognizes Six Landmark Teams with the Academic Award

    The NSCAA annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the pitch. A total of 726 (222 men, 504 women) college soccer teams including six Landmark teams, posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 academic year.

    The University of Scranton women’s soccer team played its typical strong defense throughout its NCAA Tournament first-round match against Bowdoin College on Saturday afternoon. But when the Royals couldn’t produce a goal of their own, the game wound up in a penalty kick shootout, where just about anything can happen.
  • CoSIDA Names Three Landmark Athletes Academic All-District

    Scranton's Emily Farrell and Bill McGuiness along with Drew's R.J. Voorman were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District teams last week based on their academic and athletic performances.
  • Six Landmark Teams Voted Best in Sportmanship

    Following the completion of the fall sports season six teams have been recognized for sportsmanship. The Landmark Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) created a Sportsmanship Cup in the fall of 2009 and by the end of the year, one institution will be awarded the coveted trophy.
  • Women's Soccer All-Conference Selections Announced

    The Landmark Conference women’s soccer coaches voted and named freshman forward Emma Campbell of Drew University and sophomore forward Kirsten Schall of Moravian College, Co-Offensive Players of the Year. Campbell was also selected as Rookie of the Year while the Defensive Player of the Year is Moravian senior defender Eileen Black.

    After traveling more than eight hours for their NCAA Division III Tournament appearance last season, The University of Scranton women’s soccer team will have a relatively short ride this season when they face Bowdoin College in a first-round match on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y.

  • Scranton Women's Soccer Earns Third Consecutive Landmark Championship

    Emily Farrell’s header in the 85th minute broke a scoreless tie and propelled the Royals to a 2-0 victory over Moravian College in the championship match at chilly Fitzpatrick Field. The conference championship is the third straight for Scranton and fourth in the Landmark Conference’s six years of existence.
  • No. 1 Scranton Edges Cardinals 1-0 in Women's Soccer

    CUA and Scranton engaged in yet another classic, down-to-the-wire finish on Saturday in the Landmark Conference semifinals, with the Royals outlasting the Cardinals 1-0. The teams were scoreless for 85 minutes before Scranton's Katie Hennigan netted the game-winner.
  • No. 2 Moravian Outlasts No. 3 Drew in Women's Soccer on Penalty Kicks

    The Moravian College women's soccer team defeated Drew University in the Landmark Conference Semifinals. The Greyhounds and Rangers battled to a 0-0 tie, but Moravian won 4-3 in a shootout.

    With Hurricane Sandy threatening the mid-Atlantic region early this week, the field hockey, men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball tournament games scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 31 have all been moved to Thursday, Nov. 1. All of the game times will remain the same.
