Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

The Landmark Conference has released the Athletes of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

The playoff picture is beginning to take shape with just one week left in the regular season.

In field hockey action, Elizabethtown locked in the No. 1 seed and will host a semifinal game on Wednesday, Nov. 2. The Blue Jays secured the top seed over the weekend with a 6-4 win at Susquehanna. Catholic earned the No. 2 seed and will host No. 3 Susquehanna on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The last spot is still up for grabs between Juniata, Goucher, and Drew.

Scranton women's soccer improved to 6-0 in conference action, securing the No. 1 seed in the Landmark tournament. The Royals will host a semifinal game on Tuesday, Nov. 1. It is a tight race for the No. 1 spot on the men's side. Elizabethtown leads the pack with a 4-0-2 record and 14 total points. Scranton is just two points behind the Blue Jays with 12 and a conference record of 4-2.

Volleyball was out of conference play this weekend, but the eight teams combined to go 13-5. There are 24 regular season matches remaining before the semifinals kick off on Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Elizabethtown cross country competed in the lone meet this week as the final tune-up in preparation for the Landmark Championships on Saturday.

Six swimming & diving teams were in competition in five meets this week.

Offensive Athlete of the Week - Nicole Leaf, Elizabethtown

Offensive Athlete of the Week - Nicole Leaf, Elizabethtown

Elizabethtown remained unbeaten in the Landmark with a 6-4 win over Susquehanna this past Saturday. Nicole Leaf was a key contributor with the second multi-goal game of her career, scoring twice and accounting for a third goal with an assist to finish with five points in the game to lead the Blue Jays.

Defensive Athlete of the Week - Tate Ackerman, Scranton

Defensive Athlete of the Week - Tate Ackerman, Scranton

(Fr., goalie - Endicott, N.Y.)

Despite giving up a match-tying goal in the second half at Goucher on Saturday, Ackerman was terrific in net for the Royals, making 13 saves in 90 minutes of action in a match Scranton won on penalty strokes. In the OT periods alone, she made 11 saves, including eight saves alone in the first OT period.
