TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference announced Saturday evening the field has been set for next week’s Field Hockey Championship Tournament.
The field hockey championship, will get underway Wednesday, Nov. 2 at campus sites. This year’s Landmark champion will receive the conference’s automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Championship the following week.
In Wednesday’s first semifinal, top-seeded Elizabethtown (12-4, 7-0 Landmark), will host fourth-seeded Goucher (8-8, 3-4 Landmark) at 3:30 p.m. Elizabethtown, the championship tournament’s top seed for the second year, will be seeking its first title since joining the Landmark in 2014. Goucher is making its second-ever appearance, first since 2007.
Second-seeded Catholic (10-6, 6-1 Landmark), led by first-year head coach Heidi Lewis, will host third-seeded Susquehanna (14-3, 5-2) at 7 p.m. The Cardinals enter the championship tournament as the reigning champions, and has made the postseason every year since joining the conference in 2007. Catholic will be seeking its fifth field hockey title. Susquehanna will be the number three seed and will be making the trip to Washington, D.C. for a semifinal matchup against the Cardinals for the third time.
This year's championship match will be hosted by the highest-remaining seed following Wednesday's semifinals on Saturday, November 5. The start time for Saturday’s title match will be determined after the completion of the semifinals.
