Catholic's Stevens Appointed to NCAA Division III SAAC

TOWSON, Md. – Catholic University field hockey player Allison Stevens has been appointed to a three-year term on the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Originally from Chambersburg, Pa., Stevens recently wrapped up her sophomore year with the Cardinals. She begins her term immediately and will serve through the 2016 NCAA Convention.

Stevens was chosen from a pool of candidates submitted by Landmark member institutions to represent the conference. As an acting member of the NCAA Division III SAAC, she will serve as a liaison between the campus, conference and national committees. The committee's mission is "to enhance the student-athlete experience academically and athletically by providing an avenue through which the voice of student-athletes may be heard at the conference and national level."

"It's an honor to be able to represent both Catholic and the Landmark Conference at the national SAAC level," Stevens said. "I'm very excited about the appointment, and I look forward to the opportunities ahead in the next three years."

Stevens has started every game in her two years with the Cards. She has recorded four defensive saves and helped the team to two Landmark Championships and NCAA tournament appearances. Stevens is also a standout in the classroom as a member of the Landmark Honor Roll and two-time member of the NFHCA National Academic Squad.

"We were delighted to learn that Allison has been selected to represent the Landmark Conference on the national SAAC," said Mike Allen, Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics at Catholic University. "Allison has been an outstanding student and athlete during her first two years at CUA and has shown great potential as a leader.  She is excited to engage with the other student leaders in Division III and we look forward to working with her in this new role."
