Landmark Announces Softball Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - With the unprecedented cancellation of spring sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Landmark Conference will be recognizing an athlete from each member institution in each conference-sponsored spring sport for the remainder of the academic year.

Honorees were nominated for recognition by their respective institution based on achievements from the shortened season and career accolades.

Athlete of the Week - Sabrina Scott, Catholic

Athlete of the Week - Sabrina Scott, Catholic

(Sr., P/1B - Medford, N.J.)

Catholic Senior Sabrina Scott finishes her career with 69 appearances as a pitcher with 41 starts in the circle. She recorded 144 strikeouts (3.35 K/7) in 301.1 innings pitched and a 2.44 career earned run average, including 23 wins. At the plate, Scott recorded a .301 batting average with 74 hits, 50 RBI, 40 runs scored and eight homeruns over her four years. The pitcher/first baseman totaled 238 put outs with 118 assists for a fielding percentage of .975. She earned Second Team All-Landmark honors from her 2018 performance and a spot on the First Team in 2019 including a Landmark Pitcher of the Week nomination.

 


Athlete of the Week - Sophie Sirota, Drew

Athlete of the Week - Sophie Sirota, Drew

(Jr, C - Windsor, Conn.)

Drew junior Sophie Sirota registered an outstanding start to her junior season as one of the Rangers' top run producers. She batted .452 while leading the team in slugging percentage at .643. Over 12 games, she bashed five doubles and one homer while driving in 10 runs, helping Drew to a 6-8 start. In her top outing of the season, she went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and a pair of doubles in a win over SUNY-Delhi. A three-year starter at catcher and third base, Sirota has batted .352 while collecting 83 hits, including 16 doubles.

Athlete of the Week - Taylor Herman, Elizabethtown

(Sr, OF - Slatington, Pa.)

Elizabethtown senior Taylor Herman was in her second season with the Blue Jays after transferring in from Moravian in 2019. Herman played in 36 games with 30 starts for E-town, mainly as an outfielder. She amassed 21 hits, five of which were doubles, with 21 runs scored and 13 RBI. Herman had a career-best three hits and four RBI in the second game at Juniata last season. She played in and started six games for Elizabethtown this spring as the Jays went 6-6 on their Florida trip.

 


Athlete of the Week - Molly Ulrich, Juniata

Athlete of the Week - Molly Ulrich, Juniata

(Sr., IF - Homer, N.Y.)

Juniata senior Molly Ulrich appeared in 109 games during her career as an Eagle, tallying 276 at bats as she hit .283 over her four years to go with 42 runs, 78 hits, 14 doubles, six triples, 38 RBI, 16 walks and 17 stolen bases. The second basewoman had 145 putouts, 104 assists and .947 fielding percentage. She scored the winning run her freshman season in a 4-3 victory over Elizabethtown that sent Juniata to the Landmark Playoffs. She made the Academic Honor roll in both her sophomore and junior seasons.

 


Athlete of the Week - Lauren Goetz, Moravian

Athlete of the Week - Lauren Goetz, Moravian

(Sr., INF/OF - Hawley, Pa.)

Moravian senior Lauren Goetz was hitting .433 through 10 games in 2020 when the season ended, and she had 13 hits, 10 runs, three doubles, two homers, 10 RBIs, a .733 slugging percentage and a .471 on-base percentage. Goetz, who was named to the 2017 & 2018 Landmark All-Conference First Team as a utility player and the 2019 Landmark All-Conference Second Team as a first baseman, had a .325 career batting average to go with 93 hits, 62 runs, 24 doubles, 16 home runs, seventh in school history, 90 RBI, tied for 15th in program history, a .577 slugging percentage, seventh all-time, and a .381 on-base percentage. Goetz, who saw time in the outfield and as a designated player in addition to first base, had 414 putouts, 59 assists and a .987 fielding percentage, ninth in program history, in her career.

 


Athlete of the Week - Anna Price, Scranton

Athlete of the Week - Anna Price, Scranton

(Sr., IF - Bordentown, N.J.)

Scranton senior Anna Price played in 91 games throughout her career at Scranton, finishing her time as a Royal batting .280 with a .318 slugging percentage and a .300 on-base percentage. In 211 at-bats in her career, she totaled 59 hits, eight doubles, 19 runs scored and 35 RBI, and only struck out 10 times in her entire career. In the field, she posted a .988 fielding percentage with 384 putouts and 22 assists. She was also was a part of 11 turned double plays. A nursing major who has already secured a job post-graduation, she has been named to the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll in each of the last two seasons.

 


Athlete of the Week - Kasey Bost, Susquehanna

Athlete of the Week - Kasey Bost, Susquehanna

(Sr, OF - Eldersburg, Md.)

Senior Kasey Bost started all 127 games that she played in throughout her four-year career at Susquehanna. Bost posted a career .334 batting average with 122 hits, including 26 doubles, three triples, and four home runs. She also scored 79 runs while driving in 65. The outfielder walked 40 times in her career, ranking in the top-10 in the Landmark Conference in 2017 (7th) and 2019 (6th). Bost stole 31 bases and ranked in the top-10 in the conference each season, including coming in second in 2018 with 12 stolen bases. She recorded her 100th career hit last season at Elizabethtown College on April 6, 2019. Bost made only four errors in 230 total chances to finish with a .983 career fielding percentage. She is a two-time All-Landmark selection, earning Second Team honors in 2018 and making the First Team in 2019. During Bost's career, Susquehanna amassed an overall record of 82-53 (26-10 Landmark) and captured the 2017 Landmark Conference Championship. The River Hawks also made an appearance in the 2017 NCAA Division III Softball Championship Tournament Regional at Ithaca College while finishing up as the 2019 Landmark runners-up. SU posted a 6-4 mark in a shortened 2020 season.
