Landmark Announces Baseball Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - With the unprecedented cancellation of spring sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Landmark Conference will be recognizing an athlete from each member institution in each conference-sponsored spring sport for the remainder of the academic year.

Honorees were nominated for recognition by their respective institution based on achievements from the shortened season and career accolades.

Baseball

Athlete of the Week - Connor Sullivan, Catholic

Athlete of the Week - Connor Sullivan, Catholic

(Sr., OF - Plainview, N.Y.)

Catholic senior Connor Sullivan led the Cardinals on and off the diamond this year. The outfielder led the Landmark in hits, batting average, runs, and total bases. He had 28 hits in 55 at-bats for a .509 average. The Plainview, N.Y. native also served as SAAC President for Catholic and raised over $4,000 for Special Olympics. Sullivan has been accepted to Boston College Law School to continue his education post-graduation.

 


Athlete of the Week - Max Felsenstein, Drew

Athlete of the Week - Max Felsenstein, Drew

(Sr., OF - Glen Rock, N.J.)

Drew senior Max Felsenstein registered a tremendous career for the Rangers as a four-year starter in the outfield. Playing in over 100 career games, he batted .308 and collected 116 hits while stealing 28 bases - a mark that ranks ninth in school history. The team's starting centerfielder in each of the last three seasons, he was honored as a Second-Team All-Landmark Conference selection in 2019 and has twice been named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week. Off the field, Felsenstein is a Writing and Communications major and a Film Studies minor who has served on Drew's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as well the Student Alumni Association. He is a member of the Drew Chapter of Pi Epsilon Pi (National Writing Studies Honor Society) and was a CoSIDA Academic All-America nominee in 2019.

Athlete of the Week - Mike Christy, Elizabethtown

(Sr, UTIL - Harleysville, Pa.)

Senior Mike Christy began his senior year prepared to assault the Elizabethtown baseball record book. He reached both 100 career RBI and runs scored in Florida and was on pace to end his career in the program's top-five in hits. The Harleysville, Pa. was projected to finish his career first in RBI (128), second in at-bats (577), third in hits (193) and triples (13), sixth in games played (153), seventh in home runs (13) 10th in runs (120) and 13th in doubles (33) in program history. The Blue Jays finish the 2020 season 8-3.

Athlete of the Week - Adam Kipp, Juniata

(Sr., LHP/1B - Mt. Wolf, Pa.)

Juniata senior Adam Kipp appeared in 29 games and started in 23 games as a pitcher over his career. He pitched 118.2 innings while totaling 61 strikeouts (4.63 K/9). Kipp also appeared in 111 games with 324 at bats. He scored 52 runs and totaled 98 hits and 68 RBI. In the field he, totaled 399 putouts, 40 assists, and turned 23 double plays for a fielding percentage of .984. In 2019, Kipp was named Landmark Athlete of the Week and was named to the Landmark All-Conference second team.

 


Athlete of the Week - Ian Csencsits, Moravian

Athlete of the Week - Ian Csencsits, Moravian

(Sr., INF/OF - Northampton, Pa.)

Moravian senior Ian Csencsits was hitting .371 for the Greyhounds this spring before the season ended. He was 13-for-35 in 10 games with 15 runs, four doubles, a triple, a homer and 15 RBI. Csencsits ended his career with a .357 batting average, fourth in program history, 111 runs scored, tenth all-time, and 142 hits, ranking 15th in school history, to go along with 23 doubles, eight triples, tied for seventh in program history, three home runs, 67 RBI, 66 walks, tied for seventh in school history, five stolen bases, a .480 slugging percentage, tenth in program history, and a .463 on-base percentage, second all-time. Csencsits, who was a two-time Landmark All-Conference First Team honoree before moving to the outfield in 2020, had 291 putouts and 216 assists, tenth in program history, in 526 chances in the field over 116 games played.

 


Athlete of the Week - Kevin Haag, Scranton

Athlete of the Week - Kevin Haag, Scranton

(Sr., 1B - Ossining, N.Y.)

Scranton senior Kevin Haag hit .334 in his career with 15 home runs and 110 RBI to go along with 40 doubles in three plus seasons with the Royals. The Ossining, N.Y., native set a program record with 17 doubles as a junior in 2019 and hit .349 with seven home runs and 41 RBI, which marked the fifth most in a single season in program history. Haag is a two-time Landmark Conference Player of the Week honoree and also earned All-Landmark Conference Second Team honors as a freshman in 2017.

 


Athlete of the Week - Tyson Thrush, Susquehanna

Athlete of the Week - Tyson Thrush, Susquehanna

(Sr, P - Bloomsburg, Pa.)

Senior Tyson Thrush made 43 appearances in a Susquehanna uniform with 29 starts. Thrush struck out 128 batters in 174.1 innings. He set the school record with 16 strikeouts in a 6-1 win over Baldwin Wallace University on March 14, 2020 as Thrush put in 8.1 innings of work, allowing one run on five hits and two walks. This season, Thrush was leading the conference in strikeouts (32) and innings pitched (24.2). He was named the Landmark Pitcher of the Week on April 15, 2019, after leading the River Hawks to an 8-3 win at Drew by fanning five in 8.0 innings with three runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks.
